Following up on my earlier post about Beyond Google and Evil, I just came across this article from the Wall Street Journal on one of Google's detractors, Consumer Watchdog. Believe it or not, Google went after their funding! ...In January, Consumer Watchdog circulated a press release alleging a "…

And such closeness has not been achieved before or since. Voyager 2 passed very close to the funny-named planet 25 years ago today (plus or minus) and that is the only close fly by to date. As NASA's Voyager 2 spacecraft made the only close approach to date of our mysterious seventh planet Uranus…

Thanks Greg! That's very cool of you. :)

You know, this gives me an idea about something else that might be cool. The program I used to record the video is called gtk-recordMyDesktop. It can record individual program windows or the entire desktop, including Compiz or other desktop effects. This could be useful in recording "how-to" videos for people who might be playing with Ubuntu for the first time and are unsure about how to perform certain very basic (to some of us) tasks.

I've seen a couple magazine articles about presenting a person who has never used Linux before with a machine with a freshly installed Linux OS and asking them to perform certain tasks that are very familiar to users of Windows. Some people find the necessary menu items easily, and go through the steps with no problem. Others don't fare so well.

Do you think there would be an audience for Ubuntu "how-to" videos on YouTube? I might have to start a blog.

Ironic note: As I was getting ready to watch this on my computer running Ubuntu, just as I turned my speakers on my computer did a hard reboot.

I'll just assume the speakers caused an excessive power spike.

Dan, I think that is a great idea.

Markus: Wow. Yea, that's hardware for sure.
