that is incredibly fantastic... while probably not appropriate for some locations (like more than a few tube stations in london), i think something like this should be installed almost anywhere we have one floor separating another...

You would never be able to do that in the US, unfortunately. Someone would see the opportunity to injure themselves, and sue the s*** out of you.
