Emmy says, very seriously, "You will buy a copy, won't you?"

Of course, like everything else in this house, SteelyKid had to grab a copy:

She whipped through to the last page pretty fast:

Emmy says "What'd you think, human puppy?"

SteelyKid says "If I knew how to read, Daddy's book would be my favorite book ever. People who can read should definitely buy it."

You heard the kid and the dog...

Some of you may know that a publisher contacted me last year about turning a piece of short fiction I'd written from an adult perspective into a young adult novel. There are several reasons I wanted to do this - the first is that in many ways, the young adult fiction market is much more vital than…
Note: I'm off to DC for ASPO-USA's annual spring board meeting. The blog will be quiet. I leave you with one of my all-time favorite re-runs, lightly updated to reflect the ongoing disconnect between dream and reality ;-). But what would life be without fantasy? I find it helpful to reflect on…
I'm the lone female in a house of men - when new housemate Phil moves in next month that will make six guys in my home and well, me. There are assorted female creatures on my farm - to be precise, one dog, two cats, two rabbits, 7 dairy goats, 12 ewes (seasonal) and about 40 female birds of…
Note: This is a repeat from ye olde blogge, because I think this is a really useful, and probably obvious tool that wasn't obvious to me. It has made everything so much easier. I also wanted to put in the plug for the Ozone House Calendar! Those of who know me in real life will probably already…

I thought Emmy was whimpering "Why aren't I on the cover? I did all the work."

If Emmy actually showed up for the book planning meetings the way she was supposed to, she'd be on the cover.

But you could always Photoshop Emmy in. :)

When the second edition comes out, will it get an Emmy cover?

My copy is already pre-ordered from Powells! So excited.

MKK

So, is it available in stores or online? Or just in your living room for the time being?

It is pre-orderable from fine booksellers everywhere now, and immediately available in my living room and my publisher's offices. It's officially released on December 22, but may well show up in stores a little before then.

Congratulations!

I still want to know when you're showing up on Colbert. Cage match with Tyson! Two physicists enter, one physicist leaves!

If we should happen to blog about your book, is there any particular article of yours, or other ordering site, or whatever, which you would ideally want us to link to? (I want a clickable Emmy icon, dammit!)

I would so love to give one of these to my dad for his birthday -- it's just his kind of book, I think! -- but that's on the 28th Dec and there's no way a copy will make it to the UK by then, I don't think. :(
