Rumors are quickly circulating and even congealed in the Wikipeda bio for Emanuel ... He is likely to be Obama's chief of staff, or at least, is being offered.
One last dig at Sarah Palin. I love the piano playing moose. No more digs after this, I promise. HT: JoAnn
Obama's full speech: This is the scene in front of the White House: Yes, we did: A little music/cartoon parody: McCain Concession Speech: Note the behavior of the crowd. For fun:
No one is happier about the election of Barack Obama than the people of one small town in Japan! ...the citizens of Obama, Japan, were ecstatic. Dozens of supporters swarmed the stage and joined hands, jumping up and down as they chanted "Obama! Obama! Obama!" A delegation has been dispatched to Obama, Japan to explain that they are not the President of the United States.
Good Morning America! Well, after I went to bed last night, the Minnesota Senate Race between Al Franken and Norm Coleman tightened up. The Associated Press is reporting, I hear, that Coleman has won. They are wrong. The difference between the two candidates is now (at 6:30 AM) just over 1,000 votes. Here in Minnesota, we are pretty sane and strightforward about our election process. Sensible scanning bubble sheets, lots of polling places, short lines, and an automatic recount law (one half percent different requires recount). There will now be a special recount of this race, and that…
McCain is conceding . The crowd is booing Obama, McCain has to calm them down. Now, here, and over the next couple of weeks, McCain has to put the horrors back into the Pandora's Box that he and Sarah Palin opened. Some people are probably going to die because of the way they ran their campaign. It is his (and Palin's) responsibility to mitigate the damage they've done. There are only a few more states left. No more updates from me. Indiana will go Obama by one percent. Montana ... we'll have to wait. I think they count the ballots with mules, takes longer. Missouri will go McCain,…
Bachmann is ahead of Tinklenberg enough to be pretty sure that she will win the night. Paulson is beating Madia by enough to be pretty sure that Madia will not be going to Washington as our congressperson. Coleman has pulled ahead of Franken, and my estimate is that Franken-leaning precincts were counted early. Franken will not win. Minnesotans can be such unmitigated morons that I can't believe it sometimes. I think we passed the nature tax.
Quiz: Who are the only Democrats that will "lose" their seats in the Senate?? What? Nobody wants to guess???? These are the races I'm watching. And live blogging (by the way, Biden won his seat in the Senate in Delaware) Oregon: Dem is ahead, not called yet but he could win. North Carolina: Hagan is in , DOLE IS OUT. New Hampshire: Democrats take this seat. As sort of expected. Minnesota: I don't think this one is going to happen. Georgia ... No Democratic gain here. Mississippi: No Democratic gain here Kentucky Republicans hold this seat ... Texas Not even close. Conclusion: We…
I said I might produce one more electoral vote estimate. Instead, I've produced this map (using RCP web resources): Every state that is blue is a state that Obama will win no matter what. The recent polls all show way beyond the margin of error an Obama victory. Same fr the red states but for McCain. All but one of the tossup states show, in the most recent polls, statistical uncertainty. Obama and McCain are statistically indistinguishable in all but one of these states. The exception is Pennsylvania. I leave Pennsylvania a tossup because I don't trust this state (in this particular…

A thirteen year old is brutally raped by three men. Since this constituted sexual relations outside of marriage, she was sentenced to death. She was buried in a hole up to her neck. She pleaded for her life. "Don't kill me. Don't kill me..." she cried. Then fifty men threw stones at her head until she was dead, as one thousand others looked on. ... witness ... said she had been crying and had to be forced into a hole before the stoning, reported to have taken place in a football stadium. "More than 1,000 people arrived there," he said. "After two hours, the Islamic administration in…
In some states, Republicans have been telling people that Democrats vote Wednesday. No. Today is the last day you can vote. In some states, Republicans have been telling people that if you are a student, you will be arrested or your parent's tax status will change or you'll be turned away if you try to vote where you go to school. This is not true. Students get to vote where they go to school. And so on. Vote today. Unless you are a Republican. Then, the only moral thing you can do is sit home and wait it out because we don't like you any more. You went too far over too many lines…

Barack Obama's ailing grandmother died Monday in Hawaii, a day before Obama was to stand election for the presidency, his campaign announced. Madelyn Payne Dunham was 86. The Democratic presidential candidate announced the news in a joint statement with his sister Maya Soetoro-Ng. The statement said Dunham died peacefully after a battle with cancer. source
Now that we are getting closer and closer to a close, we have recent data to work with, and some of the adjustments I've been making earlier are no longer needed. I am still taking a cautious approach, and in this analysis, Obama has exactly 270 votes. Have a look: I'll probably do at least one more of these. In the mean time, GOTV! (if you are a democrat, otherwise ignore this message)
As you know, Webster Cook was Impeached by his school government for his role in Crackergate. Then, the impeachment was overturned. But this meant that he would be re-impeached ... the appellate system does not really overturn an impeachment in this case, but rather, sends it back. So Webster Cook was Re-Impeached. And moments ago, I have received word from Benjamin Collard, Webster's friend, that the Re-Impeachment of Webster Cook has results in .... ... Acquittal!! Below the fold: Links to the earlier stories on this. 24 hours of silence August 13th: Webster Cook Acquitted August 14th…
