This is mostly about Doug Hoffman, Glen Beck and the Teabaggers. She gets to Bachmann at 4:25. Rachel, I pledge my sacred honor to you! I do! I do! I'm talkin' about you, Rachel!
People deride Americans for being politically sloppy thinkers, and for having short memories. This derision may be well deserved, but the flakiness of American citizens in relation to politics is perhaps easily explained. We are trained by the press to be airheads. President Barack Obama donned some of the strongest coat tails of any president in modern history, and despite the manufactured dissent that has been rather well executed by the Incredible Shrinking Party of No, his approval ratings stand at higher than usual for any president one year after election. Despite the expenditure of…
I was originally just going to point to this but it is so intense that I felt I just needed to have it on my site. This is the life blood of the blogger: Hat tip: Jason, where you will also find this: Foxaganda Vs Olbermann/Maddow
Reporters and bloggers rightfully enjoy feeding off of Michel Bachmann's frequent outrageous remarks, but few have made note of the real problem she poses for the people living in her district. The word needs to get out in Michele Bachmann's congressional district that she is screwing the people she supposedly represents. Her stated philosophy is to do as little as possible in congress, and she does not believe in the use of Federal Money for ... things. So it should not be a surprise to her constituents that she has been personally responsible for almost no positive action that has helped…
I love the fact that the tide is turning on Fox. (That might not be the best analogy.) In any event, this is a great example, from Rachel Maddow, of how life is more complex than much of our discourse allows for. And she does it with Walter Cronkite, and all the others on her side. Continuing on with our theme of anti-Obama wackaloonery, including the inherent racism involved in that, there is not additional evidence that there are indeed more death threats against our President than usual. From the Boston Globe: The unprecedented number of death threats against President Obama, a rise in racist hate groups, and a new wave of antigovernment fervor threaten to overwhelm the US Secret Service, according to government officials and reports, raising new questions about the 144-year-old agency's overall mission. This is leading some to consider the possibility that the…
Hmmm... Do I go along with Rush Limberger and Faux News? Or do I go along with ... Rachel? Most people don't get what the Nobel Peace Prize is. I tried to tell you. Some of you didn't get it. Rep. Michele Bachmann will be headlining a fundraiser in November for controversial ministry You Can Run But You Cannot Hide (YCRBYCH). Based in Annandale, Minn., the group has made a name for itself as an anti-drug Christian punk rock band that organizes motivational student assemblies to bring Christ to public schools. But over the last several years, parents and school administrators have complained that the ministry misrepresents itself, claiming that the group is not transparent about its Christian mission. source This is actually a fairly common problem in public schools. Groups…

Which means, fellow Americans, that Chicago didn't. I think Ed Brayton is suggesting that soon we'll be hearing about how the Obamas ruined our chances, but the word on the street is a bit different. It is generally thought that Chicago's best chance was to get the African votes, and these votes didn't come through at least in part as a reaction from 8 years of being treated like crap by the US.

Turns out, according to a new book by a speechwriter during the Bush administration, there was talk of honoring [J.K. Rowling] with the U.S. Presidential Medal of Freedom a few years ago but the idea was a non-starter in the White House. The former administration had decision-makers who spoke up to "actually object to giving the author J.K. Rowling a presidential medal because the Harry Potter books encouraged witchcraft," writes Matthew Latimer, author of "Speech-less: Tales of a White House Survivor." more I wonder how long it's going to take the Obamas to scrape the stupid off the walls.
