Republicans

Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News, World News, and News about the Economy As I've suggested before, I think this breed of activists are born of the anti-choice movement, recast to support McCain, and now they are here helping us with the health care debate. I suspect they are not going away. This is good business for the bus industry, I suppose.
Remember the election, when Republican political leaders such as Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh (The heart and brains of the party) and Michele Bachmann (whom I shall not attempt to define) encouraged their followers to be violent? Well, it is happening again, only this time in relation to opposing health care reform. This sort of thing: is being done as part of an organized effort by the Republican party. This sort of thing is happening with greater frequency and greater severity every day. This is the legacy of John McCain and Dick Cheney.
Jud Süà is a 1940 Nazi anti-Semetic propaganda film that was widely loved in much of Europe, especially Germany (and also vilified and banned in various places). The production and showing of this film was a significant moment in the development of the widespread German hate of the Jewish People that facilitated a nearly successful attempt at their utter extermination. In other words, Jud Süà played a measurable role in the development of mid 20th century racism to the ultimate conclusion which racism, unfettered, always leads: Holocaust. John Ubele is a hate-mongering white…

Hmmmm. If you listen to the Fox people ... the details ... they actually do a pretty good job of making Michele Bachmann look foolish. But they are very excited to have her on the show. Here are the FOX digs that I noticed: Isn't your claim about "Obama counties" getting more money bogus? (Answer .... evade! evade! evade!) Only 10% of stimulus "3.0" is out on the street so how do you really know how it will work? Now tell us how it won't work. Snarking out on "faith based." Tell us how it really works with Acorn... (answer: Well, not really an issue there if you look like facts but…
And a few words about Michele Bachamann. Oh, and he makes the claim that Dan Quail was brilliant. Brilliant! Man, this guy sure does know how to babble. At least he admits that he is a moron several times. More details and analysis here, at DMB.
Here is Al Franken being sworn in to the U. S. Senate: Do you remember The Ad? The ad that made everyone in Minnesota who kinda didn't like Norm Coleman go over the line and realize that Norm Coleman is the scum of the earth? You can read about that here but I'll summarize it for you briefly and tell you why I even bring it up. When Al Franken was running for the Senate, he would often tell a particular story about Paul Wellstone. In this story, Senator Wellstone is running along side his son, who is, in turn, running second or third in a cross country race as part of his high school…
On Countdown! The "Best Petard To Be Hoist Upon Later Award!" Michele Bachmann, who represents the district that is, much to my chagrin, just a few blocks from where I live, has been calling for people to give the upcoming decadal census a pass, is a person of amazing moral integrity. You see she considers the census to be an evil plot by Acorn to facilitate the rounding up and internment of Christians (or something). However, as I'm sure she knows as a member of Congress the census is also the instrument our benevolent government (benevolent now that the Dems are in power) uses to figure…
Time Pawlenty has become famous for his ability to be extraordinarily vague. Now we are seeing this in relation to the expected Minnesota State Supreme Court decision on the Franken-Coleman Senate election contest. For the most part, Pawlenty has signaled that he will only sign the election certificate if he is instructed to do so by the court. He has implied, therefore that he will not sign it if he is not instructed even if the court has made a decision. He has not explicitly stated which court he is referring to, but it seems that he is expecting that the state court may instruct him to…
In an unprecedented move, former vice presidential candidate and intellectual leader of the Republican Party, Sarah "my daughter can have your baby" Palin has ruthlessly attacked a blogger who was being funny. From an official Palin office email: Recently we learned of a malicious desecration of a photo of the Governor and baby Trig that has become an iconic representation of a mother's love for a special needs child. Desecration? Doesn't that word usually refer to damaging holy things and stuff? The mere idea of someone doctoring the photo of a special needs baby is appalling. To learn…
Through the filter of time ... a repost that may still be interesting to you from two years ago. ... are probably normal. I remember an HBES conference in which we were subjected to a very boring talk. It was not boring at first. The speaker, a well known evolutionary psychologist, started out by asking for a show of hands as to how many people had homicidal fantasies now and then. In the room of about 300, a dozen hands went up. Then the talk started. It wasn't really boring, it was just uninteresting and, in the opinion of many, not very good science. It was, in short, annoying…
According to various sources which can not be named but that are being reported by the Capitol Report, the Minnesota Supreme Court is likely to make a decision today, Thursday, June 18th. If the decision is anything other than to support (uphold) the decision of the three judge panel which previously ruled in Franken's favor, several legal experts in the state and across the country are going to drop dead on the spot of shock and chagrin. It is not know if Republican Governor Tim Pawlenty is going to be ordered by the court to produce an election certificate, but it is generally thought…
The following press release has just come across my virtual desk: Letter from Conservative Leaders Implores Senators to Filibuster Hate Crimes Bill MEDIA ADVISORY, June 16 /Christian Newswire/ -- This week, a letter is being hand-delivered to every member of the United States Senate imploring conservatives to join Senator Jim DeMint's filibuster of the pending Hate Crimes bill, which would criminalize preaching the Gospel and put preachers in the crosshairs. The letter explains that, in its current form, the Hate Crimes legislation would: "Silence the moral voice of the Church" -- "Punish…
And other wonderful concepts. Hat tip, TwoPuttTommy
The Republican Party is looking for direction. They want ideas about policy, and in particular, about how to react to the Obama administration's positions on a number of issues. You can help them. This may take a few minutes of time but you may find it .... interesting. Mike Haubrich has the details here.

I've worked for political campaigns. There are people who are watching what happens on the rope lines, in the rally lines, at the rallies themselves. The kinds of things we saw during the last election were not uncontrolled random populous movements. They are semi-orchestrated, semi-managed events designed to turn political differences into seething hate (for political purposes). For instance, the things you see in this video do not happen without the knowledge of the candidate or senior staff, and there are efforts to control how people behave in these situations. What you see here is…
Perhaps we have a society in which free speech is worshiped. But we should also worship, or at the very least nurture, expect, and insist on, responsible speech. Note: The following is from FOX News.
