Here is what one Minnesotan says: Also, find out about the Michele Bachmann Action Figure, and Michele Bachmann's spread on the latest Conservative Calendar.
I discussed the Hendrickson Incident here (and now Josh Henderson has come to Quiche Moraine to defend himself from the Hippies from Uptown) but I had missed, until Hendrickson himself pointed it out to me, this coverage from the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence. To see Hendrickson's response, and some great "examples" of the use of "quotation" marks, here's Henderson's "blog" post on the matter. I suggest you put on a pair of these before visiting Josh's site.
... if Nate Silver's analysis is correct. If a person is asked to make up a bunch of numbers ... random numbers ... s/he will tend to make up non-random numbers instead. So, for instance, if I ask you to state random numbers that have two digits, and I plot the second digits on a hisogram, and then I ask my computer to make up two digit random numbers and plot the second digits on a histogram, my computer's histogram will show roughly the sane number of 0's as 1's as 2's .... as 9's (especially with a large sample size) but you, being a silly you-man, will make up numbers with more of one…
You think this was bad? It gets worse. Do not play the movie (below the fold) without your finger/mouse on the volume button of your computer. Above: footage from ongoing protests at the G-20 summit in Pittsburgh. Police and US military have blocked off a security zone in the city, expelling all homeless people from the area, and with the exception of Burmese Monks, anarchists, anti-capitalists and others downtown is reported to be largely empty. Confrontations between police and protestors have already occurred. Tear gas (possibly OC gas) and LRAD sonic weapons have been used against…
What they are referring to is a paper by Mojib Latif in which he notes that the media often misrepresent global warming as a continuous, year by year increase in temperature. The truth, of course, is that annual temperature varies up and down but the baseline for this variation has been going continuously up. Like a road going up a mountain. Often the road goes up and down and up and down cross the complex terrain of the mountain side. If, while driving up this hypothetical mountain, the road dips down for a moment, one does not say "Oh, we're going home now. This whole driving up the…

A part time teacher and US Census worker was lynched in Kentucky earlier today. The word "FED" was scrawled on his body. Michele Bachmann, I wonder what your opinion of this killing is? The AP and other agencies are just starting to report this.
Sarah Palin gave her first speech outside the US, to the CLSA Investors Forum, in Tokyo, on Reqaganomics, China and Human Rights, Tibet, and the economices of the United States and Asia. She apparently also covered Alaskan Moose. The speech was 90 minutes long. Several people left early, there was apparently some kind of non-disclosure agreement because the press could not get most people to issue any kind of opinion, and those who did opine were generally non-committal with some mildly positive, some mildly negative. Opinions gleaned from the CNN story: "I can't say I was actually…
John Dean revealed the answer on Olbermann's show today. And the answer is ... Financial Information to Embarrass the Democrats. Nixon had a tip that there was a kick-back scheme related to the Miami convention. Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News, World News, and News about the Economy Republicans have always been assholes.
A couple of weeks ago, I published a very controversial post titled "Maybe We Should Have Elected a White President After All" about the ongoing, possibly growing racism in connection with Obama's presidency. The idea that a lot of the anti-Obama, including anti-health care reform, rhetoric and action was racially motivated was understood by some and rejected by others who seem to not want to see any significant racism in the mix. This was parallel to the head in the sand reaction to my earlier post on the the arrest of Skip Gates in Cambridge Massachusetts last July. There are those of…
A man from Rogers, Minnesota...a small town in the Sixth Congressional District represented by Michele Bachmann...went through the trouble of strapping on his Glock .40 caliber handgun and dropping his Kel Tec 380 in his pocket before visiting the site of President Obama's talk last Saturday in Minneapolis. His name is Josh Hendrickson and both handguns were loaded. He went to the speech to stand outside and show off his cammo and his guns. The press took note and had a chat with him. Hendrickson told them, "I'm a pretty laid-back guy that loves his kids and his country." Hendrickson was…

This is a bit long but very much worth the watch. Rachel and Jonathan Alter discuss the racialized rhetoric, the Republican strategy, and the political pattern that the current wave of unhinged and uncooth behavior is part of. But when Conservatives for Patients Rights, an anti-health care organization, made a commercial designed to scare Americans into opposing heath care reform, they lied to various Canadians and tricked them into making the Canadian system look bad. The same organization did the same thing earlier with the British health care system. Heres the ad: YOU LIE!!!!! Here's the truth.
Dusty Trice will tell you ... Dusty's commentary and additional sordid details can be found HERE. Not for the kids, it gets kinda steamy.
If you were in the Twin Cities last Saturday and wanted to do something political, you had two choices. Tool over to St. Cloud and visit Michele Bachmann's Town Hall meeting, which she rudely scheduled on the same day as a visit to Minneapolis by President Obama. Or, you could go to see President Obama. Rep. Michele Bachmann was in St. Cloud on Saturday for a town hall meeting. Apparently quite a few people in her district just don't care about her anymore. Her event at the St. Cloud Technical High School was attended by only 60 people! In contrast, 18,000 people were at the Target Center…
